I have long been accused of having one of those interfaces that always draws the comments of “dude wtf. how the hell can you play with that much shit on the screen?!”. Well, my last interface wasn’t bad, but it was just too many addons to keep track of. And it was using 40-50MB of memory. Not good at all.

So, I was reading on the Official WoW forums (UI) and saw a couple screens of peoples UIs. I didn’t model mind after them, but I heard mention of a addon called Opie. I googled it and came upon a Wow Insider post about it. After reading about it, and watching the little movie on the developers site, I decided to try it.

Honestly, this thing kicks ass. I am now down to one action bar, with 6 buttons.  Take a gander of my current UI below:

It still has some issues. Namely the memory usage. I have a feeling questhelper might have something to do with it. And now, here is a shot of me using Opie:

What this addon does is allow you to press a keybind and bring up a “ring” of spells, macros or anything else you would place on a action bar. It takes some getting used to, and remembering what keybinds bring up which ring, and where your spells are on each ring. But it’s quite nice to not have to have all my spells I use regularly all over my screen. In the shot above I have Water Shield and Lightning Shield on one ring. This ring is bound to the “CTRL-W” key combo, which used to be my combo for Water Shield. Now, I can press CTRL-W and move my mouse up slightly, and bam, water shield!

I have my mounts set to one combo (`), weapon buffs set to another (CTRL-`), earth, fire and air totems (have not done water yet) setup, and two typical raid rings. I am still playing with it, and like I said, it does take some getting used to - but it really cleans up my interface and gives me easy access to most of my spells.

With that out of the way, I still need to install Group Calendar and determine if QuestHelper is what is using up all this dag-on memory :) All that said, I am quite happy with it so far - at least while doing my dailies. I have not yet raided with this setup. We shall see how that turns out over the next week or so :)

I’m still not happy with my unit frame placement. Any ideas? Right now, I have my frame on the left of the action bar, Target and Target of Target just to the right, Focus and Focus target to the right of that. Any help would be much appreciated!
